Plastic surgery involves the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. It includes cosmetic or aesthetic surgery, which alters the form of an otherwise normal body part, rather than dealing with abnormal disease.
Aesthetic or cosmetic surgery is performed for many reasons, both physical and psychological. After all, the World Health Organisation (WHO) definition of health is a state of physical and psychological well-being.
In the term plastic surgery, the word plastic means sculpting or reshaping, and comes from the Greek word plastikē. It has nothing to do with Plastic material, other than that is also a malleable substance.
